This brings me to the final point. The heat index map. The one map everyone has come to know and love in the summer months in Arkansas. I have put together a VERY PRELIMINARY look at the potential heat index values for the end of the week. This would be the Thursday through Saturday time frame with the highest towards Saturday. This is based off of the guidance tonight and the forecast dew points for the same time. As stated above and in your forecast, oppressive but not dangerous. Anything above 95 is dangerous though. These numbers approach the heat advisory criteria of 105+ So that being said, caution should be used outdoors. With the lack of rainfall, the higher temps are definitely possible. If the ground dries out faster, then these could come up along with the air temps. So with this being the first substantial heat wave of the summer, I figured we better let you know what you could be facing later in the week. Hot and dry looks to be the story but there are signs that it could be short lived, more on that another time. So much for Spring huh?
